SuperK FIANIUM OCT

SuperK FIANIUM OCT broadband low-noise laser

The SuperK FIANIUM OCT series are broadband, low-noise sources designed for optical coherence tomography. Pair it with a broadband spectrometer to get the same performance as Ti:Sapphire-based OCT systems at a much lower cost, smaller footprint, great mobility, and robustness.

The OCT series share the same maintenance-free, reliable, and robust platform as our SuperK FIANIUM series and runs 24/7. And they work by the flip of a switch.

The SuperK is a great source for characterization… It is very broad-band and suitable for characterization both in the visible and near-infrared ranges, high power, very stable, flexible and easy to use.

The market’s lowest noise

The supercontinuum SuperK FIANIUM OCT series has the market’s lowest noise. It is optimized for low-noise performance to produce high-contrast, low-noise images in Optical Coherence Tomography and multimodality applications.

Combined with a broadband spectrometer, the SuperK FIANIUM OCT can power OCT systems down to 1-2 µm axial resolution.

Low noise ensures high-contrast images

The SuperK FIANIUM OCT supercontinuum laser series has the lowest noise on the market. Optimized for low-noise performance, it gives high-contrast low-noise images in OCT systems. Its performance matches that of costly and bulky Ti:Sapphire lasers.

Below are shown two OCT images of a human eye. The image on the right is recorded using a SuperK FIANIUM OCT source, while the image on the left is obtained using a Ti:Sapphire laser. Both images are recorded by Angelika Unterhuber from Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Drexlers group at Medical University Vienna.

High beam quality

The SuperK FIANIUM series is perfect for applications that need high-performance beam output. Diffraction-limited output from a proprietary collimator design ensures superb single-mode broadband collimation at high power.

High pointing accuracy and broadband beam collimation make filtering and beam-steering operations very precise. The excellent single-mode Gaussian beam quality ensures that you can couple light back into the single-mode fiber at efficiencies up to 70%.

SuperK near-field

Ready-to-use and fail-safe operation

Operating the SuperK FIANIUM OCT is easy and intuitive for all users, no laser expertise is needed. Get supercontinuum light at a press of a button!

The emission button lets you switch the light on and off without the need to reduce the optical power or wait for the system to warm up or cool down. In standby mode, the laser remembers the latest power or current setting and returns to the same level when the emission is re-activated.

You can get access to all laser functions from the SuperK CONTROL graphical user interface on a PC.

A maintenance-free lifetime of thousands of hours

The SuperK series is based on NKT Photonics’ world-renowned Crystal Fibre technology that has reliably delivered supercontinuum to both commercial and academic users for over 15 years.

Our lasers are fully fiber monolithic which ensures excellent reliability and a lifetime of thousands of hours – as well as maintenance-free and alignment-free operation. For scientific applications, we offer a 2-year warranty.

NKT Photonics is the largest manufacturer of PCF technology and reliability, quality, and performance are ensured through DIN ISO 9000 certified processes. Continuous testing of multiple systems during and after the development phase has ensured the longest continuous running lifetime in the market.

The SuperK FIANIUM is a cost-effective and user-friendly alternative to Ti:Sapphire solutions.
