True color SLO and OCT handheld probe

A team from Duke University uses a SuperK EXTREME supercontinuum source from NKT Photonics to power the World’s first true color scanning laser ophthalmoscopy and optical coherence tomography handheld probe.

True_color_SLO

The true color SLO could potentially provide earlier detection of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and it may be possible to use it to evaluate the effects of various drugs or dietary supplements on the macular pigment density.
