Coherent, Inc. chooses photonic crystal fibers from NKT Photonics for next generation laser platform

NKT Photonics, the pioneer of photonic crystal fibers, and Coherent, Inc., a world leader in lasers and laser systems for commercial and scientific markets, today announced that NKT Photonics will supply a high-power fiber amplifier module for use in Coherent’s newly released Daytona sub-nanosecond pulsed laser, targeted at various micro-electronics applications. The amplifier design is based on NKT Photonics’ photonic crystal fiber technology that the company pioneered a decade ago.

“We are very happy to add Coherent to the group of prominent laser companies that uses our platform”, says Jakob Skov, CEO of NKT Photonics and adds “the fact that one of the world’s leading suppliers of lasers has chosen our unique PCF amplifier as a key module in their newest generation of short pulsed lasers is a testament to the performance and maturity of our products.”

“We are pleased to be working with the NKT Photonics team”, states Sushil Shah, Vice President and General Manager at Coherent. “We regard NKT as a key supplier and partner for our fiber-based pulsed laser platform.”
