LIOS EN.SURE Power Cable DTS System

The LIOS EN.SURE power cable DTS system is an optical fiber based temperature measurement system designed to monitor underground T&D power cables and overhead transmission lines. Using an optical fiber embedded in the power cable, or installed externally, the LIOS EN.SURE system can continuously monitor and predict power cable load, cable core temperature over single-ended lengths of up to 40 km per system.

The EN.SURE power cable DTS system provides a continuous temperature profile over the entire length of the sensor cable with a resolution better than 1°C, offering superior hot spot detection on underground T&D power cables and overhead transmission lines over distances of up to 40 km. This distance can be increased to 70 km by choosing our unique Long Range EN.SURE DTS system.

By combining the EN.SURE system with our class leading RTTR software, the DTS system can calculate the cable conductor temperature in real time to predict cable load (Real Time Thermal Rating), thereby allowing the operator to run the cable above nominal capacity for peak emergency situations.

A Mean Time Between Failures of 45.5 years

A power cable DTS system must be very reliable and in this regard, the EN.SURE system is exceptional. The controller has no moving parts, it is immune to electromagnetic disturbances, and it has an MTBF of 45.5 years, ensuring reliable temperature monitoring in even the toughest environments.
