Laser micromachining of thin glass

With the ORIGAMI XP you can drill tiny holes and cut complex lines and shapes in thin, transparent materials.

If you work with thin glass within photonics, microelectronics, displays, or perhaps biomedical chip manufacturing, you know there is a need for a reliable high-yield high-quality glass machining process.

Earlier, laser processing of glass was a very low-yield process due to the long pulses that caused thermal damage. Today, femtosecond lasers provide ultra-short pulses with high peak powers that allow for precise and clean cutting, free of microcracks.

In our application lab, we put our ORIGAMI XP to the test and made it cut weird shapes, drill tiny holes, and make scribe lines for us. Read more about the 15 µm V-shaped channels and holes it machined for us.
