SuperK EXTREME supercontinuum lasers

The SuperK EXTREME supercontinuum white light lasers are broad as a lamp and bright as a laser. They deliver high brightness diffraction limited light in the entire 400-2400 nm region and by adding one of our computer controlled filters, the SuperK can be converted into an ultra-tunable laser with up to 16 simultaneous lines. Our lasers are maintenance free and the fully fiber monolithic architecture ensures excellent reliability and a lifetime of thousands of hours. 

The SuperK EXTREME series is based on NKT Photonics world renowned Crystal Fibre technology that has reliably delivered supercontinuum to all fields for over 10 years. The SuperK platform is fully modular, allowing easy operation and service where accessory modules can be added without configuration—all plug&play. Operation is simple and functions can be changed on-the-fly without powering down the system. The SuperK EXTREME series provides high power and exceptional lifetime together with the highest of safety standards.

Spectral variants and power levels

Violet (EXU), White (EXW) or Red (EXR) spectrum. Up to 3.5 W in the visible wavelength region. See the available models in the table below. Should you require more power later, a SuperK laser can easily be upgraded to a higher power level.

Easy Turn-Key System With Fail Safe Operation

The SuperK EXTREME is easy to use and provides supercontinuum light at a press of a button! The emission button also allows immediate switching of light on or off without the need to reduce optical power or waiting for warm up or cool down. The SuperK EXTREME remembers the latest power or current set of the laser when the laser is switched off in standby mode so it returns to the same level when emission is activated again.

The easy jog wheel system is used to control the operation of the unit and functions such as constant power/current mode, repetition rate control and laser status can be chosen effortlessly. The Constant Power Mode function allows linear variation of the VIS output power from 0-100%.

Modular Achitecture

The SuperK EXTREME has a truly modular design, allowing easy on-site support or upgrades. As the on-board electronics records all operational aspects of each module, the user can download a full operational history of the SuperK EXTREME for servicing or monitoring requirements.

Due to the unique modularity, upgrading a SuperK laser has never been easier. Unsure of how much power you need? Not a problem. Start with a low power model, and upgrade with high power modules when you need it. Easy and cost effective.

Beam Quality

SuperK_EXTREME_nearfieldFor applications demanding high performance in beam output, the SuperK EXTREME provides the perfect solution. Diffraction limited output from a proprietary collimator design ensures superb single mode, broadband collimation at high power. The deployment of the SuperK EXTREME in Leica’s SP8X confocal microscope gives users the ability to perform high resolution diffraction limited microscopy due to the superior beam quality. This is also extremely important when employing SuperK Accessories. High pointing accuracy and broadband beam collimation ensures filtering and beam steering operations are made precisely and finally, the excellent single mode Gaussian beam quality ensures coupling of light back into single mode fiber at efficiencies of over 70%


SuperK_EXTREME_back_right_angleThe SuperK EXTREME has a range of connection functions allowing the user to trigger, monitor and expand the functions of the source. Standard triggering and synchronization functions (such as NIM) are provided for downstream control of equipment. Pulse timing signals are available for monitoring the status of the SuperK under variable repetition rate. More importantly, the SuperK is now equipped with a digital communication bus interface for intelligent communication with the SuperK Accessory suite. No need for complicated driver downloads, just plug in the accessory and let the SuperK EXTREME do the rest!
